Walking
The Goring Gap and its surrounding areas of outstanding natural beauty is a great location for walking.
We can make the area even better for walking by improving pedestrian safety and access to rights of way. see our Campaigns page.
There are three active walking groups locally, each with lots of information on their website. Rather than re-invent the wheel (or the foot, in this case), we simply link to those sites.
Goring Community Netwalk
Goring Community Netwalk is a friendly monthly walk that brings people together through fresh air, beautiful countryside and great conversation. Whether you’re a business owner, employee, retired, or simply looking to meet new people, everyone is welcome.
Meet at The Swan at Streatley at 7:20am for a 7:30am start.
Goring Gap Walks
The Goring Gap Walks scheme offers free, led community health walks to all fitness levels with no booking required. Walks depart from the Rectory Garden next to Goring Village Hall (Postcode: RG8 9AG)
Henley & Goring Ramblers
As its name implies, the Henley & Goring Group of the Ramblers national charity covers a somewhat wider range than Goring Gap Walks. Their website states
With over 380 members and more than 30 walk leaders we can provide walks to suit a wide range of tastes and abilities. We publish our programmes 4 times a Year and we have approximately 25 to 30 walks each month. Walks range from 2.5 miles easy strolls to 12-16 miles strenuous hikes with lots of 5-10 miles moderate walks in between. Whatever kind of walks you may be interested in, we can offer them to you!
