Where is the Goring Gap?
The Goring Gap is the name given to the area where the River Thames passes through the gap between the Berkshire Downs (now known politically-correctly as the North Wessex Downs) and the Chiltern Hills, both designated as Areas of Outstanding National Beauty.
What is Active Travel?

Active Travel means making journeys in physically active ways – like walking, wheeling (using a scooter, wheelchair or mobility device) or cycling.
Who are we?
The Goring Gap Active Travel Group is a community organisation founded in March 2026 promoting and supporting active travel throughout Goring, Streatley and the surrounding area. We work with local residents, councils and partner organisations to improve opportunities for everyday walking, wheeling and cycling.
Why is Active Travel important?
Traffic Congestion
The Obesity Crisis
Climate Change
